Paul F. Alphen is a respected and experienced attorney who for over twenty-four years has concentrated in the areas of residential and commercial real estate development and land use regulation, administrative law, real estate transactional practice and title examination. He represents national corporations, major regional developers and a wide variety of local concerns. Active in the Westford community, he has served on numerous town and community committees. Depending upon the needs of the particular client, he has experience at every step in the development process from the initial offer to purchase land, through contract negotiations, development strategy, resolution of title issues, drafting zoning opinions, representation before government boards, assistance to litigation counsel, construction lending, compliance issues and the leasing or sale of competed units. Both national and local developers have entrusted Paul with wide ranging responsibilities pertaining to zoning and land use development strategy.
Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Alphen enjoyed a nine year career in state and local government, including positions with the Wayland Police Department, the Trial Court of the Commonwealth, the State Auditor’s Office and the Town of Westford. A lifelong resident of Greater Boston, Mr. Alphen has a B.A. and a M.A. from Boston College, a Masters in Public Administration from Suffolk University, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New England School of Law. Alphen has served on the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts (“REBA”) Board of Directors since 2001, and was the founding Chair of the Zoning and Land Use Committee. He was elected to the position of President of REBA for 2008. He is a regular contributor to REBA News within Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. As entertaining as he finds the practice of law, he enjoys numerous hobbies including messing around with power boats and cars and joining his family and friends at BC, Celtics and Red Sox games, both home and away.
